Which Governments Represent the True God?

I ended my last discussion with these questions. Is there any governments on earth that represent the true God? Even one? What about all the different religions on earth, are they from the true God? Is there a true religion on earth backed by God?

We will begin with governments. Which governments on earth represent the true God? As far as I know every nation on earth claims devotion to a god of some kind. As we continue to peer into earth’s affairs from God’s perspective, it should be easy to locate the ones that follow the two laws stated by Jesus when being tested by the Pharisees at Matthew 22: 35 through 40.

“One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Now you may ask, how is what Jesus said to the Pharisees connected to governments of the world? In his day, the nation of Israel was under the rule of the Roman Empire, but it claimed to maintain that it was God’s chosen nation, thereby making it also the kingdom or government of God.

First let’s see what the difference is between a kingdom and a government. As nouns, the difference between kingdom and governmentis that kingdom is a nation having a supreme ruler – a king and/or queen, while a government is the body with the power to make and/or enforce laws to control a country, land area, people or organization.  wikidiff.com/government/kingdom

So, a kingdom is just one person having supreme rule to say what law is in a nation. A government is a body with the power to make and enforce laws, they made in a nation. So what Jesus is telling these Pharisees, that say they belong to kingdom of God, is that the kingdom of God should be governed by two laws. Love God and love your neighbor as yourself. It just so happens that both of these laws are the same law: unselfish love.

For those of you that may not know what a Pharisees is, let’s go to Google. A member of an ancient Jewish sect, distinguished by strict observance of the traditional and written law, and commonly held to have pretensions to superior sanctity. Jesus even called them: self-righteous persons; and hypocrites.

And let us not forget the Sadducees. This is who they were. During the time of Christ and the New Testament era, the Sadducees were aristocrats. They tended to be wealthy and held powerful positions, including that of chief priests and high priest, and they held the majority of the 70 seats of the ruling council called the Sanhedrin.

These two groups held the religious power to govern the people of Israel thereby making themselves the governing body of God’s kingdom here on earth. They clung onto the written laws handed down to Moses by God. Jesus was telling them that the way to govern was by two unselfish laws woven into the fabric of the strict written laws. They would not accept this as the law even though Jesus told them that all the written laws were based on these two commandments. Why wouldn’t they accept what Jesus was saying? Because it would take away all their power over the people and they would have to give up their superior sanctity. This they would not do.

What can we take away from this information? That any governments that claim to follow the true God would be govern by the same two laws that Jesus explained to the leaders of the nation of Israel. Now you take a look at any government that has ever been on earth that follows those two laws and I’ll show you a government or kingdom that belongs to God. By the way, good luck. God does allow these other governments to exist for now because they are meant to be a deterrent to wickedness. Read Romans 13:1 through 4 for more information.

Let’s take a different view. If there were governments or kingdoms that were the true kingdom of God, why would Jesus teach his followers to pray for the kingdom of God to come down from heaven to the earth? Mathew 6:9-10 reads,  “So this is how you should pray: Our father in heaven, may your name be honored 10 may your kingdom come may your will be done as in heaven, also on earth.”

There is more information in the bible about kingdoms or governments. Jesus, when being tempted by Satan in the wilderness, was shown all the kingdoms or governments of the earth. He was told by Satan that if he would fall down and do one act of worship to him, he would give Jesus all these kingdoms and their glory. Mathew 4: 8&9.

All of these kingdoms that Satan showed to Jesus were his to give. He was the one that made them all in his attempt to impose self-rule. Where do you think the belief that some governments have had that gods came down from the heavens, came from? Remember, Satan is trying to prove that when persons of freewill are given the right to choose self or others, they will always chose self. When we look back through history at past civilizations or governments they were all founded on selfish love. They all desired the power and wealth over their fellow citizens. Be it a kingdom or a government, doesn’t the ruling class selfishly expect and demand to be treated to the finer things in life, all paid for by its citizens’ hard work? All governments expect those under them, to provide for them. They think they do not have to follow the same laws and penalties that they make for their fellow citizens.

Oddly enough, in Revelation chapter 13 verses 1 & 2 it speaks of a wild beast that ascends out of the sea. Then I saw a beast rising up out of the sea. It had seven heads and ten horns, with ten crowns on its horns. And written on each head were names that blasphemed God. This beast looked like a leopard, but it had the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion! And the dragon gave the beast his own power and throne and great authority.”

John says he saw a beast rising out of the sea. If we go to dictionary.com and search the word beast we find it means: any nonhuman animal, especially a large, four-footed mammal. I think it would be appropriate to ask what would a four-footed mammal be doing coming up out of the sea? Another question comes to mind, what kind of nonhuman animal would have seven heads and ten horns and each horn had a diadem or jeweled crown?

What if the sea was the sea of humanity with its different governments? What if the beast with its seven heads were governments? Why would the bible refer to governments as beast? Because of the way they rule. Even if a government starts off with its founders having very good intentions for its citizens, they eventually die and their ideals and laws will be misused by future generations. Because all governments end up treating their fellow citizens with a beast-like rule. They take whatever they want with no compassion for their victims, just like a wild beast of the field would throw you around and do with you as it pleases.

A diadem is a jeweled crown or headband worn as a symbol of sovereignty. Only governments, not animals, have sovereignty or supreme power. And who gives the beast its power? According to the last part of verse two, it is the dragon, which the bible has already identified as Satan. This also corresponds with Satan offering Jesus all the governments of the world for one act of worship.

Here’s an interesting fact. Almost every government on earth has a national animal or beast as its symbol, be it real or mythical. Here is a list of animals used as symbols. Why do they use animals to represent themselves? Here’s what teenink.com has to say: There are many ways countries try to show that they are superior to others. A common method is to use feared symbols on their country’s flag, Coat of Arms or other important places. The symbol usually chosen is an animal, often regarded as the national animal of that country. These animals symbolize a characteristic that the country believes itself to possess.

Maybe the bible isn’t the only one to reference governments as beast after all, they do it themselves. But is that all the bible has to tell about this beast or is there more to be found? Let’s check out what Revelation chapter 17: verses 1, 2&3 have to say: “One of the seven angels who had poured out the seven bowls came over and spoke to me. “Come with me,” he said, “and I will show you the judgment that is going to come on the great prostitute, who rules over many waters. The kings of the world have committed adultery with her, and the people who belong to this world have been made drunk by the wine of her immorality. So the angel took me in the Spirit into the wilderness. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that had seven heads and ten horns, and blasphemies against God were written all over it.” This great prostitute will be in my next discussion. For now we’re talking about the kings or governments of the world past, present and future as being the beast that the prostitute is sitting on the back of. This beast is all the different kingdoms and governments and authorities that Satan has used to try and prove God wrong.

So what is Satan’s plan for the future using the kingdoms of the world? Let’s read verses 11, 12 and 13: “The scarlet beast that was, but is no longer, is the eighth king. He is like the other seven, and he, too, is headed for destruction. 12 The ten horns of the beast are ten kings who have not yet risen to power. They will be appointed to their kingdoms for one brief moment to reign with the beast. 13 They will all agree to give him their power and authority.  The beast that was, but is no longer, are governments that have past and governments that exist today. In the future there is to rise an eighth king with the same power as the previous seven had been given. The ten horns of the beast are ten different governments that will give this eighth king or government their backing. This is talking about a one world government. Why one world government? Because of the scripture that I stated in my last discussion at Luke 21: 25 & 26, “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. 26 People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.”

When we look around at our world today does that scripture seem to be speaking of our time? What is causing all the turmoil on earth? What is it that is causing people to be perplexed and terrified? Look at all the nations on earth that disagree with each other. Nations all over the world are at war or making threats to go to war against each other. People are being displaced because of civil upheaval in different nations. People’s lives are being disrupted in their own nations by waves of immigrants being forced into their societies that do not have the same values as them. This causes violent reactions within those nations.

Some nations are democratic, some are dictatorships, some are of kings and/or queens, and others are controlled by the military while others by religious rulers. We have terrorist groups that don’t even have a nation, and yet they still cause massive killings and chaos. So what will be the answer to stop all this confusion? One world government. Then if people do not agree with that one world rule, they will be done away with as traitors for the better cause for all world citizens.

Believe it or not, that has already been tried before here on earth, it didn’t work then and it won’t work now, not under Satan’s selfish way of ruling. Read about a man named Nimrod in Genesis chapters 10 & 11.

Do you want to know what the bible says is to happens to this one world government? Revelation 17:14 says this about that government,

“Together they will go to war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will defeat them because he is Lord of all lords and King of all kings. And his called and chosen and faithful ones will be with him.”

The bible also tells us at Revelation 11:15. “The seventh angel blew his horn. There were loud voices in heaven saying, “The nations of the world have become the holy nation of our Lord and of His Christ. He will be the Leader forever.”

That’s what the bible says will eventually happen to all manmade governments that are backed by Satan.

Next time I’ll be discussing many of the different religions on earth, are they from the true God? Surely they can give us a way to help each other. You don’t want to miss this one.
